Architextiles

Architextiles is a series of sound absorbing textiles with a woven 3D structure. Designed by renowned textile designer Aleksandra Gaca and manufactured by Casalis, the Architextiles collection was developed through an innovative combination of both craft and high tech elements, in a seamless process to create the panels. The textile panels, produced using sustainable materials, deliver two core features: decoration and noise reduction; the 3D texture of the woven fabric enables the panels to absorb sound waves more efficiently than flat textiles. Thus contributing to a more muted environment.

bioLogic

The bioLogic team explored how bacterial properties can be applied to fabric and formed into living interfaces between body and environment. They found novel ways of using Natto bacteria, which move in response to humidity change. The team harvested Natto cells and applied them to fabric with custom 3D printers.The cell-infused fabric was used to make sport garments. As fabric in the suit reacts to perspiration, tiny vents over bodily heat zones open and close allowing for rapid cooling. In fall 2015, these suits featured in a live ballet performance.

The Tenderness of Wool

This work ruled out felting, commonly used in wool manufacturing processes of everyday goods, and focus on the intertwining properties of plain wool while employing various sewing techniques. Her experiments gave birth to thin and translucent wool-based material with distinct thread pattern, giving the impression of being both robust and ethereal. She plans to continue her investigation into the methods of expressing the delicacy and fineness of the natural aspect of wild wool and explore the ways the beauty of nature can be interwoven into everyday life.

Dongfangfu

Dongfangfu pillow aims to provide comfortable sleep through quality fabric and filling materials. It features three distinct heights in three different sections based on the ergonomic design, so that the pillow can support the head and neck whether people sleep on the front, side or back. Both the material and the shape design reflect the designer's meticulous care for the sleeper. With durable materials, the down pillow offers support and alignment year after year.

Lamella

Lamella is a multilayered handmade unique material. Design include components such a biodegradable laminate, recycled mesh and antibacterial canvas. The interest in textiles research based on ecological ideas has resulted in the creation of experimental fashion designs and accessories. The durable high quality structure is friendly for environment. Abstract patterns exist in various types of textures and colors. The project is creatively unlimited and corresponding with avant-garde designs as well usual products. Multilayered collage concern idea of material that incorporates new technologies.

Reminiscent

Reinterpreting the fragrance industry, Pallavi Padukone uses textiles as aromatherapy to condense time and distance and create an immersive experience to reconnect with nature, nostalgia, her home, and identity. Reminiscent uses natural ways to integrate and infuse scents into textiles through perfumed pockets and embroidery and embellishment using scent coated cotton yarn and organza silk. At a time when wearing masks is the new normal, her textiles pay tribute to the sensorial experience of smell and its effect on mental and physical wellness.
