Archi Folds

Archie Folds are inspired by the potential of Japanese origami techniques in architecture as a solution for flexible spatial usage. They enable spaces to stay functional for longer and fulfill their potential when owners and requirements change. Archi Folds is a strong spatial gesture at the same time easily transported or moved thanks to their compact fold. High performance structures can be unfolded into a myriad of different shapes due to their structural flexibility, allowing two identical products to be installed in completely unique manners, re-used in different shapes and sizes.

Janus Fabric

Janus Fabric is a new conceptual material, whose surface can work as a heating or lighting system. The combination of the material diversity and incorporated functional system creates multi-dimensional designs, which are both functional and aesthetic. Janus Fabric originated from the idea to expand the definition of a simple surface material to a performing component. To add a function to a product, additional components and complex production systems are usually required. Since Janus itself can perform the function, this can help to solve these problems and allows to focus on the design.

Architextiles

Architextiles is a series of sound absorbing textiles with a woven 3D structure. Designed by renowned textile designer Aleksandra Gaca and manufactured by Casalis, the Architextiles collection was developed through an innovative combination of both craft and high tech elements, in a seamless process to create the panels. The textile panels, produced using sustainable materials, deliver two core features: decoration and noise reduction; the 3D texture of the woven fabric enables the panels to absorb sound waves more efficiently than flat textiles. Thus contributing to a more muted environment.

Adriatico

This project is inspired by the unique relationship between water and skin and the interplay between the two. Digitally created waves mimic free flowing water and echo the sensation of the fabric against your skin. Both the print and material come together for a contemporary appeal. In order to create the optimum visual effect, we adjusted the saturation of the color before digital printing.

Kalai

The textile is a hand woven textile. It is designed in such a way that the fabric has holes which is not woven. These holes are formed during weaving itself. The patterns formed in the textile is due to the areas which are not woven. The technique used in this fabric is such that it needs to be woven by stopping the loom. This makes it unique to handloom. In other words, it is highly difficult to weave this on a poweloom. The most interesting aspect is that this was woven with two shafts(plain weave). The technique can be used to produce a furnishing textile or an apparel.

Tactical

Three-dimensional textile surface realized through the manipulation of the screen-printing technique. The textile has a parametric pattern, and a customized coating mixture matched to a smooth base fabric, that gives to the textile an exclusive tactile sensation. The features of this fabric are highlighted by applying it to a wearable context to give the wearer a different sensorial experience related to the interaction with the body through the sense of touch.
